The Automator
-
Inspired by the life of British rapper MF DOOM (Daniel Dumile), “The Automator” is a slice of life featuring a Latina immigrant – Luz – who is adjusting to the odd, semi-sci fi world around her while dealing with the death of her brother. Beginning in a chaotic perspective of the world during nightfall, various candids are taken of the visceral and unforgiving urban environment that is an unfamiliar setting. The science-fictionalization of the immigration experience highlights the affect of isolation and acclimation in the midst of grieving identity, family, and the state of normalcy previously known.
